With support from the California Academy of Sciences, CoCoSTEM is currently accepting applications for Science Action Club sites for spring 2017. Science Action Club (SAC) is a high impact STEM program for middle school youth in out-of-school time. Youth investigate their local environment and use citizen science to document discoveries, share data and design strategies to protect our planet.

Colorado sites participating in spring 2017 will receive the Birds in Your Schoolyard curriculum, including a materials kit valued at more than $500! This unit explores feathers, flight, and the features that make birds unique. Using tools and technology, youth identify local birds and investigate environmental changes that impact bird behavior.

To participate in SAC, after-school programs must:
* Ensure 2 staff participate in training (Feb 2, 2017 in Denver)
* Recruit 15 youth (grades 5-8) to participate
* Lead after-school sessions (all materials provided!)
* Track attendance and submit feedback

For more information about SAC, please visit the SAC website or click here to apply by January 10, 2017.
