Collaboration in the Digital Classroom – Starting on September 1, 2016 – Collaboration in the Digital Classroom is an interactive e-learning experience that offers an indepth look at collaboration with a focus on online collaborative tools. In this course, teachers see how collaboration helps students develop 21st century thinking skills, deepen content understanding, and prepare them for the global world. Teachers learn how to plan and manage collaboration activities that integrate online collaborative tools increasingly part of our globally connected workplaces. They follow two teachers as they implement collaborative experiences in their classrooms. The course offers opportunities to apply the collaboration concepts with action planning exercises. Designing Blended Learning – Starting September 1, 2016 – Designing Blended Learning is an e-learning course for teachers that explains and demonstrates blended learning with interactive activities and locally relevant classroom examples. The course helps teachers transition to creating blended learning experiences. It provides the background rationale, planning strategies, and suggested technology tools. It offers suggestions for assessing student learning in a blended course and managing the day-to-day blended environment. Curate, Collaborate, and Create: A Wealth of Resources – Starting September 1, 2016 – A three-week, asynchronous, Internet-based course. It will present an overview of DigiEducate and provide instruction on locating Content Experts’ online educational resources and integrating them effectively into instructional activities to support student learning. Moving into Mobile Learning – Starting September 1, 2016 – Moving into Mobile Learning is an introductory e-learning course designed for teachers. It explains and demonstrates how to implement mobile learning with interactive activities and locally relevant classroom examples. This first of a two level course helps teachers transition to mobile learning using background research, planning strategies, and suggested technology apps and online tools. It offers suggestions for assessing student learning with mobile devices and managing a mobile learning environment. Teachers will understand how to design student projects and assessments that address critical thinking skills when collecting and analyzing data. Additionally, they will see how technology can support students collection, organization, and presentation of data. Student Engagement with One-to One – Starting September 1, 2016 – This course will introduce educators to student engagement, one of the most powerful factors affecting student achievement. Participants will explore highly effective instructional strategies in one-to-one learning environments, transforming current instructional units to better engage students by reworking unit content, redefining student work products and reflecting on teaching and learning processes. Learn to identify the characteristics of engaged learners, assess levels of student engagement, and reflect upon your teaching practices to better engage students. Colorado Digital Learning Solutions (CDLS), a 501(c)3 non-profit, was awarded a three-year statewide contract. CDLS is replacing Colorado Online Learning as the state supported provider of supplemental coursework for Colorado students. Monies for this contract was appropriated in the CRS 22-5-119 legislation. The goal of CDLS is to use these funds to build a sound, self-sustaining supplemental model for students and schools in Colorado.
Through this contract, CDLS will provide expanded online courses for Colorado middle and high school schools for credit retrieval, credit advancement, and curriculum enhancement options for Colorado students. Online courses will be provided using a successful, research-based student support model that includes collaboration among highly qualified and state-certified online teachers, school-based site coordinators, and a strong CDLS leadership team.
