Tell Your Story Using ESRI Story MapsTaught by Joseph Kerski – February-March – This course will enable participants to understand why stories can be effectively told with today’s interactive, web-based story maps, learn how to teach and assess student work with story maps, and learn how to create story maps that incorporate sounds, video, photographs, narrative, and other multimedia.  Through readings, videos, quizzes, discussion with your colleagues, and hands-on activities, you will learn how and why to create story maps using the ArcGIS Online platform and be confident that you can use these tools in your instruction.  To register for this course, please click here.


PMIEF – Project Management Foundations – Starts February 6th – More and more youth are engaged in projects: from long-term in-class projects incorporated into project-based learning experiences; projects for electives, such as yearbook; to out-of-school youth development projects, such as student competitions. Indeed, some youth may spend more time involved in out-of-school projects than in-school projects. Show Me the Money – Writing Winning Grants – Starts February 6th – This six-week online asynchronous course provides a structured framework and run entirely online for educators wanting to learn how to write clear, concise, and competitive grants. The information, resources, and strategies offered in this course will help educators use their newly acquired grant writing skills to bring “free money” to their school. The resources and activities will encourage deep reflection and discussion about locating grant offerings, promoting collaboration, and enhancing grant writing skills. Where appropriate, the course draws on free, web-based tools that support the pedagogical focus of each module. Participants will work both individually and collaboratively throughout the course. As a final project, you will complete our WWG Action Plan, that will help you synthesize what you learn in each session and apply some of the tools and strategies discussed in a future grant writing endeavor.  To register for this course, please click here.


Student Engagement with One-to-One – Starts February 6th – This  course will introduce educators to student engagement, one of the most powerful factors affecting student achievement. ART – You Can Bring ART Into Your Teaching – Starts February 6th – In this course, you’ll explore the works of several contemporary artists working with a variety of techniques. You’ll experiment with these artists techniques, ideas, and concepts by creating artworks of your own, inspired by their work. Assessments in the 21st Century – Starts February 6th – Assessment in 21st Century Classrooms is an interactive e-learning experience that offers an in-depth look at assessment that meets the needs of 21st century teaching and learning. In this course, teachers see how assessment strategies can benefit their teaching practices and their students’ learning. They learn how to plan, develop, and manage student-centered assessment. They follow three teachers who are implementing embedded and ongoing assessment methods in their classrooms. Thinking Critically with Data -Starts February 6th – Thinking Critically With Data is an interactive e-learning course that examines critical thinking with a focus on data analysis in our information-rich world. In this course, teachers explore practical skills and strategies to draw on when teaching students to think critically about the information around them. Teachers will understand how to design student projects and assessments that address critical thinking skills when collecting and analyzing data. Additionally, they will see how technology can support students collection, organization, and presentation of data.
