The Denver Writing Project is sponsoring this event in partnership with the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Colorado Language Arts Society. Join them for a day of exploration as we write our way through the exhibits!

What is a writing marathon?

These events are informal gatherings in which writers from all backgrounds, professions and levels of expertise devote a full day to writing. The Denver Writing Project facilitates these marathons based on the model established by the National Writing Project. The day begins with each participant saying the phrase “I am a writer,” then warming up with a five-minute writing prompt. The rest of the day is spent exploring the venue and letting the surroundings inspire our writing. Writing guidelines/prompts are available, but participants are not required to use them. At the end of the day, everyone gathers together for some informal sharing.
