Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants will receive a certificate of participation hours.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Children cannot be accommodated in Teachers Professional Development Programs; no exceptions. Participants who arrive with children will not be admitted to the program. 

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Start the school year right with a few simple, yet powerful strategies—tools you can use to confidently plan better and authentically get at the kind of thinking you desire from your students—right from the start!

Cultivating a Thinking Classroom requires intentional planning for classroom structures and routines that begin on the first day of school.

Together, we’ll explore ways to prepare our students to think deeply and collaboratively by anchoring “get-to-know-you activities” into classroom structures, setting up thinking routines, and selecting the most effective discourse protocols that will support content and process learning throughout the year. Session also includes planning time for the first week of school, supported by museum educators and course facilitators.

This workshop is for practicing teachers of grades K-5 (See times for K-2 and 3-5 grade level sessions).
